I’m starting to get really worried about my 2016 Chevrolet Camaro SS and I’m hoping someone here can offer some advice. Over the past month or so, I’ve noticed that the automatic transmission seems to be slipping slightly when it shifts from second to third gear, especially when the car is cold. It feels like it hesitates for a second before engaging, and sometimes there’s a slight shudder that I can feel through the whole car. I’ve already checked the transmission fluid level and it looks fine, so I’m pretty sure it’s not just low fluid. I’ve read about some issues with the 8-speed automatics in these cars having torque converter problems or valve body issues, and honestly I’m terrified of what a full transmission rebuild might cost. I don’t want to take it to the dealership because I know they’ll just quote me a crazy price without even doing a proper investigation. A buddy of mine who tracks his Corvette mentioned thorough Chevrolet repair Al Barsha and said there are some independent specialists in that area who actually know how to diagnose these transmissions properly without just guessing. Has anyone here had transmission issues on their Camaro or similar GM vehicle and managed to get it fixed without breaking the bank? I’m trying to figure out if I should just trade it in or actually invest in getting it repaired properly.
